I am quite guarded. I prefer people not to know me.

Previously, I would have written a joke in the about me page as a deflection. I’m trying to look at this page as an opportunity to describe myself and author my own narrative.

My name is Jesse Schoaf. I like computers, books, and media. I like intellectual and creative tools. Put simply, I like learning. I’m interested in education as a practice of freedom, and finding ways for computers and words and other means of expression to help in that endeavor.

I also like other things. I like sports and running. I like being outside. I like to experience new places and new feelings. I like history (particularly social history).

I like when computers amplify aspects, characteristics, and abilities of humans. I also like when computers are knowable and understandable.

Am I just a list of things that I like? I have relationships.
